As long as I’m making lists. I might as well make one for my favorite past time: reading. Quite honestly, I’m not one for fiction. However, I’ve read enough to pick out some favorites. Some of them are pretty common “favorites” but…I guess they wouldn’t be classics if no one else liked them, huh?
Fiction
- Prayers of a NonBeliever
- Until I Find You
- Prayer for Owen Meany
- Brave New World
- Animal Farm (if you’ve gotta read Orwell, you might as well read this one)
- Redeeming Love (yes, it’s a Christian romance novel. And while I stay away from these as a general rule, this one’s amazing. Believe me.)
- Chronicles of Narnia (I have to be honest, I’ve only read up until the Silver Chair. however, they’re classics.)
- Lord of the Rings Trilogy
- Oliver Twist (I have to say, I read this a few years back. Dickens is wordy, but good)
Non-Fiction
- The Orthodox Way –Bishop Kallistos Ware
- The Way of A Pilgrim
- Inner Voice of Love–Henri Nowen (A MUST read, especially for anyone interested in mental health)
- Searching for God Knows What–Donald Miller
- Blue like Jazz–Donald Miller
- Generous Orthodoxy–Brian McLaren
- Orthodoxy–G.K. Chesterton (gotta love the British humour in this one!)
- The Gospel of John (yes, the 4th book in the New Testament. Yes, the whole Bible is amazing. But, if I had to pick just one book out of it, the Gospel of John is definitely a fav.)
